SMTP Error: Could not connect to SMTP host. Please make user the zentao host:\n 1. ping the smtp host ok;\n 2. telnet the smtp port to smtp host ok;\n 3. If ping and telnet are ok, checking firewall under window, turn off selnux or "setsebool httpd_can_sendmail true" to allow apache to send mail under linux.
SMTP -> ERROR: Failed to connect to server: A connection attempt failed because the connected party did not properly respond after a period of time, or established connection failed because connected host has failed to respond. (10060)

Hi, Neha Verma, It seems like you are setting the email configuration.

please following the steps to find where you are blocked:

1.ping the smtp host ok

2.telnet the smtp port to smtp host ok

3.If ping and telnet are ok, checking firewall under window, turn off selnux or execute "setsebool httpd_can_sendmail true" to allow apache to send mail under linux

Hi,

 I tried telnet 172.26.56.26 25
Connecting To 172.26.56.26...Could not open connection to the host, on port 25: Connect failed


So, do I need to get this port open for this IP?

Yes,  If sending email by zentao, zentao server need be able to communicate with your smtp server.

Hi Pedro,


  After some changes from my end, I am getting following error now

SMTP Error: Could not authenticate.
SMTP -> FROM SERVER:220 mail-server.impetus.in ESMTP Postfix 
SMTP -> FROM SERVER: 250-mail-server.impetus.in 250-PIPELINING 250-SIZE 10240000 250-VRFY 250-ETRN 250-STARTTLS 250-ENHANCEDSTATUSCODES 250-8BITMIME 250 DSN 
SMTP -> ERROR: AUTH not accepted from server: 503 5.5.1 Error: authentication not enabled 
SMTP -> FROM SERVER:250 2.0.0 Ok 


Please help. All smtp server enablement is done from my side

Hi Neha, The message seems like that your connection is ok, but your authentication of smtp is not passed.

Thanks Pedro for all the help, it got fixed for me after some configuration changes. I just got one question that what triggers email notifications at different stages of defects.
